Man hit boy over naked photos

A FATHER head-butted a 16-year-old boy because he had sent “naked” photos to his stepdaughter.

Jason Wayne Tonking, 38, was ordered yesterday to complete 18 months of probation after pleading guilty in Maroochydore District Court to assault.

The court heard the boy received a phone call from Mr Tonking about harassing his daughter at school and threatened to bash him.

Mr Tonking went to the boy’s home about 4.40pm on April 22, 2009.

The head-butt got the boy’s nose and mouth.

When another man stood between them, Mr Tonking reached over and grabbed the boy’s ears while yelling about sending naked pictures.

The teenagers had exchanged photos of themselves in underwear.

Crown prosecutor Alex Stark said Mr Tonking had a habit of “taking matters into his own hands”.

He said Mr Tonking, whose offending breached a suspended jail sentence and a probation order, had previously hit a man with a baseball bat over a family incident.

Judge John Robertson said it was disappointing Mr Tonking had treated a boy that way when he had suffered such a “sadistic and chilling” childhood.
