Man jailed for sex with kids, dogs

A MAN who admitted having sex with his children and two of the family's dogs has been jailed until at least November 2024.

The man, 50, was jailed last year by Bowen District Court for 15 years after being convicted of maintaining a sexual relationship with his only daughter of his first marriage.

Crown prosecutor Andrew Anderson told Toowoomba District Court today that the girl was just nine when her father first corrupted her and the relationship had continued until she was 16.

Despite the large body of evidence against him including photographs he had taken of their sexual encounters, he had gone to trial putting his victim daughter through the ordeal of having to give evidence in court.

After the break-up of his first marriage, the man took up with another woman about the same age as his daughter at the time and went on to have a further six children.

The four oldest children had been exposed to his sexual depravity from an early age in the family homes on properties west of Dalby.

Between 2002 and 2010 the children had routinely been indecently treated by their father in being exposed to their parents having sex in front of them and exposed to pornographic material.

The children were under 12 years at the time and the man's offending culminated in twice raping his young daughter by oral penetration.

Mr Anderson said so corrupted from an early age were the children that when the offending came to light in 2010, the children had explained their father's offending to police as if it was normal family behaviour.

The man, who is not named to protect the identity of the children, pleaded guilty to nine counts of indecent treatment of a child under 12, five of making child exploitation material, one of possessing child pornography from the internet and three counts of having unlawful carnal knowledge with the family's pet labrador and a cross breed dog.

Referring to him as "sexually depraved", Judge Sarah Bradley sentenced the man to a further two years jail on top of the 15 year sentence he was serving.
