Shootings 'not linked': police

MULTIPLE armed offenders are still on the run after two cold blooded shootings in Brisbane in 24 hours.

On Friday police had cordoned off the car park of a suburban shopping centre at Eight Mile Plains, south of Brisbane City, after a 22-year-old man was shot in the head.

On Thursday night police believe the man went to the Warrigal Square Shopping Centre at 6:40pm to meet up with his friends for "a bite to eat."

About 10 minutes later, a silver two-door BMW coupe arrived at the shopping square.

At 7:20pm, police believe the victim was shot in the head in the shopping centre car park and the BMW left.

Seven minutes later, police received a 000 call reporting the shooting.

The victim was rushed to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition but he died a few hours later.

Queensland Police Metropolitan South Regional Crime Coordinator Superintendent Michael Niland said the shooting was not a random drive-by attack and that police were still searching for the silver BMW, which was captured on CCTV leaving the shopping centre car park at 7:20pm.

Supt Niland said he doesn't believe the man was involved in a gang although he was known to police.

Queensland Police Commissioner Bob Atkinson said the shooting was "deliberate, intentional and focused."

The shooting follows the murder of a man during a violent home invasion at Roachdale South on Wednesday night.

Police were called to house on Priestdale Road where they found 56-year-old John Lazzaro with gun shot wounds.

Police said two armed men entered the house and shot Mr Lazarro and the victim's dog, who survived.

Mr Lazarro's daughter was home during the ordeal.

Police Commissioner Atkinson said the two shootings did not seem to be linked.

"At this point in time, there is no evidence to suggest these matters are linked in anyway but we are not excluding that...," he said.

Anyone with information regarding either incident is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
