Man shot in the leg in home invasion

A MAN has been robbed and shot in the leg during a violent home invasion on the Gold Coast.

At 9:30pm on Monday, a man wearing a balaclava forced his way into a Labrador home and demanded money from the people inside.

The offender threatened a male resident with a gun, sparking a verbal altercation, police said.

The armed robber shot the resident in the right knee before stealing a sum of cash and fleeing.

The shooting victim, 46, was rushed to Gold Coast Hospital where he remained on Tuesday.

Three people were home at the time of the shooting.

Police are looking to talk to anyone driving south along Government Road at 9:30pm on Monday to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
