UPDATE: An ambulance spokesperson has said the man involved in the overnight siege at Bargara was affected by drugs at the time.

The spokesperson said the man had threatened to self harm and to cause an explosion with a gas bottle.

He was on the roof when a police negotiator managed to get him down.

EARLIER: Police were called to a Miller St address in Bargara on Sunday night where a 41-year-old male had barricaded himself in a room.

The male then started to throw property out over the balcony of the room including furniture, white goods, electrical items and a television.

Police attended the situation and started to negotiate with the individual to leave the apartment.

The Bundaberg man refused to leave the unit.

Police continued negotiations until 6am, at that time, the man was taken into custody.

The man was thought to be a guest of a guest at the holiday apartment blocks.

Police have charged the man with numerous offences.

More to come.
