Man walks four kilometres in wild weather – for beer
PETER MIDGLEY walked 4.5km in the rain with a broken umbrella.
And he reckons he had a pretty good reason.
"I knew the rain was coming but I had some very important shopping to do," he said.
"I had to go and fetch my favourite beers."
The Observer caught up with Mr Midgley on the side of the road, at the intersection between the Bruce Hwy and Panorama circuit.
"It's a bit of a walk and it didn't help that my brolley got mangled half way through," he said.
"It's taken a bit of a beating and the wires have given up on me but I haven't.
"I have the attitude that, well, it can't get much wetter.
"I'll get home from my walk and still do some gardening and feed the chooks."
The next item on his shopping list?
"A new umbrella," he said.
