Man's ultimate sacrifice to save Toowoomba girl's life
A YOUNG Toowoomba girl has thanked the brother of the man who died saving her from drowning on the NSW north coast.
Rihanna Milabo, 7, was rescued from the ocean at Fingal Headlands in New South Wales on Good Friday along with her parents Shyra and Rickel.
Ryan Martin has been hailed a hero for trying to shield Rihanna from the jagged rocks and waves.
Mr Martin, 30, was farewelled in a memorial yesterday at the same place where he died near a cliff face close to Giant's Causeway.
The Milabo family was hesitant to make contact with the Martin family, but joined with them at Mr Martin's memorial to thank him for his heroic actions.
The Milabo family is now calling for him to be honoured with a bravery award.
