UPDATE: Tributes flow for man killed in Bowen capsize

UPDATE 6.36pm

Tributes flow for Martin Cunningham who was killed when his boat capsized in a collision off Bowen on Wednesday.

Martin was remembered by his family and friends as a carefree, fun-loving man who loved to fish.

INITIAL: The Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) will investigate the fatal Bowen boat capsize.

On Wednesday, a commercial fishing vessel capsized about 4 kilometres off Bowen in Queensland with three crew on board.

Queensland Police coordinated a search and rescue response.   Innisfail man Martin Cunnigham, 43, died in the incident.

Two other crew members were rescued.

The fishing vessel was towed to Bowen harbour for the investigation.   The vessel capsize appears to have involved a collision with a tugboat.

The tugboat operator is cooperating with the investigation.

As the incident involved domestic commercial vessels, AMSA is currently investigating to determine the circumstances that led to incident.

Maritime Safety Queensland and Queensland Police are assisting in the investigation.
