Marquee makes for new festival home

REEF Festival events for the adults have a new home this year - the Festival Marquee on Airlie Beach foreshore.

The Festival Marquee will be located next to Airlie Creek in the centre of town and will be the venue for a variety of events including the 'Revvin' The Reef' Rock n' Roll Dinner Dance (Saturday August 6), the Comedy Gala (Thursday August 11) and the "Cocktails" tropical cocktail & canapes party (Saturday, August 13).

It is also a great place to kick back with a cold drink each evening and watch the sun go down over the Coral Sea.

The reef festival pop-up bar - run by Mama Africa's Bar & Niteclub - will be open every evening in the marquee, and there will be food available.

"The new festival marquee - or festival "central" - is the perfect place to pop in and have a drink, a bite to eat and just kick back," Mama Africa owner Stacy Harvey said.

"Not only is it the best view in town, with a great, relaxed atmosphere, but you will be supporting the Reef Festival as well."

Electrik Lemonade will perform in the marquee on Sunday August 7 from 4pm onwards, and it will also be the venue for the Reef Festival closing party - the "Cocktails" tropical cocktail party - on Saturday, August 13, with live music from The Fox.

The marquee will also play host to a Mexican party (Monday 8), Latin dancing (Tuesday 9), a comedy workshop with comedian Fiona McGary, global grooves with DidgEra (Wednesday 10), the Comedy Gala (Thursday 11) and Sunset drinks and live music on Friday 12.

Tickets for the 'Revvin' the Reef' Rock n' Roll Dinner Dance are $35.

Comedy Gala tickets cost $25, and tickets for the "Cocktails" tropical cocktail party cost $30.

Tickets are available at http://www.whitsundaytickets.com.au.
