Meet the Coast man filming Matt Sinclair's YouTube channel

HE'S only 20 but Jesse Purcell is already well on his way to establishing a successful career in film and photography.

The talented Noosa resident graduated from JMC Academy in Brisbane last year and has since then built up an impressive portfolio.

He has filmed and photographed weddings in Australia and overseas, shot several portfolios and has been featured by Aussie brewery, Stone & Wood.

And most recently, Jesse is the man behind MasterChef runner up Matt Sinclair's latest venture - a YouTube cooking channel.

Matt said he and Jesse have been working as a team to produce his personal YouTube channel, filming for corporate partnerships as well as food photography.


Jesse said the pair started working together last year after "catching up over a mango and tossing some ideas back and forth".

"Matt was always eager to create a cooking channel, after showing him my work he trusted we'd make something interesting. He's put a lot of trust in my work and I can't thank him enough.

"We instantly clicked with ideas, so we went for it."

While they are still filming and "trying to find the style", Jesse said he is really enjoying the work.

"It's great. We shoot, eat the product and then crack a beer. Not always in that order."

Matt said Jesse has been incredible to work with.

"He has an incredible talent where he is able to transition into any aspect of the filming/photography industry. Whether it's weddings, skateboarding, boutique breweries, coffee and now a food channel.

"I believe he is able to do this because the bottom line is he genuinely loves what he does, you can see him light up when he has the camera in his hand!"

While the cooking channel hasn't been released yet and there is still more filming to be done, Jesse is already lining up his next documentary.

"I would like to do more documentary work. It's quite powerful having someone's full attention whilst talking about their struggles and wins."

During university Jesse got the opportunity to produce an interview with hip hop and N.W.A legend The D.O.C.

Something he describes as a "career highlight".

"It was incredible. I was so nervous having only seen him on my iPod playlist then all of a sudden he was sitting in front of me, telling me he loved my approach and that he hopes to see me in 20 years on something bigger.

"The D.O.C is a huge believer of giving back, he's been through a lot and his presence is incredibly powerful, unlike any other artist, I can't describe it".

Jesse is heading to the US in March for three months and hopes to catch up with The D.O.C again then.
