Memorabilia DVD launched
THE story of the Whitsundays during the 1970s and 1980s has been recorded on a DVD is now available to the general public.
The DVD titled Airlie Beach - The Good Old Days was a result of the successful Airlie Beach tourism pioneers reunion held at the Airlie Beach Bowls Club in June.
The reunion was a celebration of the lifestyle and the achievements of the 1970's and 1980s with old friends compiling and sharing historical photographs, rare movie footage, magazine and newspaper clippings, clothing and sporting memorabilia.
Whitsunday photographer Adrian Connor, who captured the reunion on film, was heavily inspired by the lifestyle, freedom and beauty of the Whitsundays in the 1970s and 1980s.
Airlie Beach reunion group member Pam Pole thanked all past and present Whitsunday residents who contributed their photos, films, music and memories for the DVD, which was launched last Friday.
The DVD launch was also a farewell party of Allen and Barbara Southwood long term locals and co-founders of the Airlie Beach Fun Race.
