Midnight debut for Rogue One

A NEW generation of Star Wars fans is about to be born as Rogue One: A Star Wars Story hits the screen at Proserpine Entertainment Centre.

Following the release of Episode VII - The Force Awakens last year, the revived Star Wars franchise is set to branch out for the first time with a standalone story set in the infamous operatic universe.

It will also mark the first ever midnight screening for Proserpine Entertainment Centre with owner Chris Patrick saying he'd love to see a big crowd.

"It's the first time we've done it and we're encouraging people to come along dressed up as their favourite characters and that type of thing,” he said.

"This will be people's first opportunity to see the movie in the region.”

Rogue One is set in between episodes III and IV and features a whole new cast of characters in one of the most anticipated releases of 2016.

After the formation of the Galactic Empire, the Rebel Alliance recruits Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) to work with a team including Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) to steal the design schematics of the Empire's new superweapon, the Death Star.

The cast is rounded out with screen legend Forest Whitaker and Australia's own Ben Mendelsohn.

Fans will be especially excited to see the film's trailers that have revealed that one of the biggest villains in screen history, Darth Vader, is set to return.

Tickets can be purchased for the midnight screening at Proserpine Entertainment Centre on the night or you can call them on 49452312 for more information.

The film will debut at 12.01am on December 15 and will run for three weeks at Proserpine. You don't want to miss out.
