Minister should be sacked: Palaszczuk

QUEENSLAND opposition leader Annastacia Palaszczuk wants a minister sacked for allowing a controversial LNP figure to view confidential documents of two government businesses.

Her comments follow reports LNP treasurer Barry O'Sullivan was sent in to audit taxpayer-funded horticultural business GoPlant and government publisher GoPrint pro bono.

Ms Palaszczuk told media, after asking questions during parliamentary Question Time about GoPlant and GoPrint, that Premier Campbell Newman and Public Works Minister Bruce Flegg should confront the media about the issue.

"Why are they hiding from the media?" she asked.

"They are hiding because this goes to the heart of integrity and how a government operates.

"It is shameful the way this government is operating and we are determined to keep them accountable.

"The premier should do the right thing here and refer the matter to the CMC.

"The premier must sack this minister.

"This minister has engaged a person, an LNP machine operative, who has come in and looked at confidential information.

"I feel like we've stepped back 30 years to the Joh (Bjelke-Petersen) days.

"I don't want to step back in time, I want Queensland to go forward."

The Premier told Parliament during question time there was nothing to refer to the CMC.

Mr Flegg told the chamber his government had inherited "a range of absolutely basket-case businesses that are utterly unsustainable".

"I have set about, as have other members of the government, addressing that issue because those opposite were certainly unable to do so," he said.
