Miss Earth entrant saving marine life
A FORMER Proserpine girl is on a quest to help save the planet.
Jenna Kerschbaumer has been named as a national finalist for the Miss Earth Australia pageant.
She will head to Melbourne in March for the selection of this year's winner.
Miss Earth is an international beauty pageant promoting environmental awareness.
The Miss Earth Foundation also works with the environmental departments and ministries of participating countries, various private sectors and corporations, as well as Greenpeace and the World Wildlife Foundation.
"I am so excited to be announced a national finalist for Mrs Earth Australia,” Jenna said.
"My campaign (is based on a theme to) reduce our ocean's waste.
"I am presenting (this idea) to the minister of environment to install compulsory debris traps to storm water drains and other drains going out to the ocean, which will help to reduce our ocean's waste and also reduce the animals getting killed every year due to be tangled and swallowing plastics and other rubbish.”
The pageant winner will win a trip to Las Vegas to compete for Miss Earth and represent Australia.
