Monster garage sale will raise money to end women’s cancers

CANNONVALE residents Maz McDougall and Linda and Jade Beck invite Whitsunday locals to a swanky garage sale this Saturday.

The monster garage sale is set to be more than your average garage sale and will take over residence at the townhouses at the bottom of Beach Road in Cannonvale.

Organiser Maz McDougall promises locals that there will strictly be no junk - just excellent finds.

Those who attend can pick up knick-knacks and quality creations from sexy Santa costumes to cutlery, wet suits, home wares, gifts and more.

Money raised will go towards Linda Beck's fundraising efforts to take part in The Weekend to End Women's Cancers in Brisbane in October. She needs $2000 to take part.

The Weekend to End Women's Cancers is a walk over two days that raises much-needed funds for the QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute (QIMR Berghofer) and Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital (RBWH).

A breast cancer survivor, Linda Beck will be completing the walk with good friend Ms McDougall and daughter Jade Beck. This year celebrates Linda Beck's nine year anniversary of being cancer free.

Ms Beck had a narrow miss when she was diagnosed with a non-invasive cancer in her milk duct.

She received her treatment at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital and now wants to show her support to other cancer battlers and survivors.

The monster garage sale will also include a silent auction with gifts pre-loved and new. Linda and Jade Beck and Maz McDougall hope everyone can come on down and support 'Breast buddies ever' - which will be the team name of their trio.
