Monster raffle for Family Appeal

THE Whitsunday community is coming out in force to assist the Summers' children Matthew (19) and Damien (toddler), who lost their parents Shane and Leanne, four-year-old sister Mia and 17-year-old brother Brendan in an horrific crash on the Bruce Highway at Calen on Friday, August 10.

Cannonvale resident Kelli Matthews has been working with the Summers Family Appeal to organise a 'monster raffle' event, scheduled for mid-September at a venue yet to be announced.

Ms Matthews said sponsors such as Cruise Whitsundays and BIG4 Adventure Whitsundays had already provided major prizes with more businesses jumping on board by the day.

"We've had a tremendous response, it's been massive," she said.

Raffle tickets went on sale this week at various locations throughout the region. Ms Matthews said volunteers were needed to help sell as many as possible.

Business organisations, volunteers or anyone wanting to help with the appeal is invited to phone Kelli Matthews on 0404 486 333 or email kellimatthews1@optusnet.com.au.
