More volunteers needed for kids program

MORE than 70 kids turned up to the Wild Ones Adventure Program's recent movie marathon night at the Whitsunday PCYC and organisers now want to expand the program.

Co-ordinator of the Wild Ones Adventure Program Ron Petterson said the program was designed to help local youth aged 8 to 12 to develop leadership skills while making new friends and having a fantastic time.

"We currently have 35 kids in our group and have eight sitting on a waiting list and more registering their interest every day," he said.

Mr Petterson said in order to expand the program parents needed to put their hand to volunteer for one night a week for about two hours and the occasional Saturday or weekend.

Local resident Lisette Henry said Wild Ones was a brilliant program and both her sons counted down the days until the following Thursday.
