Mother speaks out a year after Mt Isa explosion

ONE year on from a devastating explosion that killed a father and his two kids, the children's mother issued a statement saying she hoped what happened to her family would never happen again.

One year ago yesterday, Charlie Hinder and his children Nyobi, 7, and River, 4, died when the caravan they were in exploded outside a house in Mt Isa.

At the time, police said they were treating the incident as a possible murder-suicide.

In a statement on Thursday, the children's mother Kath Hinder said: "It's been a difficult year; I miss my babies every day, through friends and family I push through, taking each day as it comes".

"I hope something like this never happens again.

"I continue to help police as much as I can and I look forward to their findings in the near future".

Investigators believe explosives were used in the incident.

Police said they were still investigating and would provide findings to the Coroner.
