New England Highway has re-opened, but drive with caution

UPDATE 11.40PM: THE highway between Armidale and Glen Innes has now re-opened but drivers are being told to drive with caution.

Live Traffic has updated it's website at 11.13am to say that traffic is affected in both directions and to exercise caution.

UPDATE: LIVE Traffic have updated their status on the New England Highway road closure between Glen Innes and Armidale.

As at 9.06am the road is still closed with now time in the foreseeable future for it opening.

Emergency services and the RMS are attending.

Live Traffic advises that motorists avoid the area.

INITIAL: IF YOU are planning to travel the New England Highway, you may want to delay your trip for a while.

The Transport Management Centre is reporting the New England Highway is closed between Glen Innes and Armidale due to black ice.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area.

The situation is being monitored and the highway will reopen once it is safe, however there is no time frame as to when the highway will open.
