Movies’ musical magic
MOVIE and music buffs are in for a treat when the 50-member Queensland Youth Orchestra Wind Symphony comes to town this week.
The QYO Wind Symphony is one of seven orchestras and ensembles in the Queensland Youth Orchestras organisation, based at the Old Museum Building in Brisbane and consisting of 50 advanced
musicians with an average age of 15.
Its Movie Magic concert, coming to the Proserpine Entertainment Centre this Sunday, July 12, is a charity event not to be missed.
From 3pm, the orchestra will perform orchestral themes by world-renowned composer John Williams from blockbuster movies such as E.T., Harry Potter, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Jaws and Superman.
Singer Hannah Grondin, aged just 19, will perform songs from popular movies such as "I Dreamed a Dream" from Les Miserables, "Somewhere" from West Side Story, "Happy" from Despicable Me 2 and "Let It Go" from
The QYO concert in Proserpine is the first of six that the orchestra is giving during its five-day tour to North Queensland with further concerts in Mackay, Nebo and Moranbah.
