Music lovers join the club

THE Airlie Beach Music Festival has some new VIP guests, as businesses and individuals rush to join the exclusive 100 Club, and help keep the spirit of the event alive.

Festival organiser and founder Gavin "Butto" Butlin said he was thrilled to have so much interest in the 100 Club already.

"I'm stoked to have these businesses and people on board. It's a great deal, every business in town can write it off as tax, so it's a win-win for everyone," he said.

The first business to come on board the sponsorship program was the Coral Sea Resort, with general manager Greg Waites saying they thought the festival was a great event for the town.

"I really urge everyone to get involved with this fantastic event. It's usually a quiet period for the Whitsundays, and the festival has proven year after year that it can fill the town," he said.

Coral Sea Resort also offers complementary rooms for the festival crews, as another means of showing their support.

Clare and Grant Opie have also come on board as individual 100 Club members.

"We've been to the festival every year since it started and we love it. It's nice to have something like this in Airlie Beach, you don't have to travel its just right here on our doorstep," Mrs Opie said.

Local musician and festival committee member Keiran McCarthy said the festival needed the whole support of the town to continue.

"To have people already sharing the foresight and generosity to come on board as 100 Club members is great. It is great value for money and it ensures our festival can continue to attract the high quality acts that it does," he said.

The 100 Club offers 2 VIP tickets for the next three festivals, all alcohol and food included, two dress shirts and a set of three Airlie Beach Festival of Music CDs. You will also receive 20% off all future ticket purchases from 2018 for the lifetime of the festival. Joining costs $2500 per couple and $3000 for a business, which is fully tax deductible.
