Music lovers snap up tickets

EXCITEMENT is already building for the 2015 Airlie Beach Festival of Music with the first tickets sold at a teaser event on Sunday afternoon.

Peter Bird and Sue Smart travelled from Seaforth for the Original Sundays event and bought five festival tickets for the bargain price of $200 each.

Andrew Pattinson, who organised Sunday's live music event, said even though it didn't kick off until 1pm, the couple were so keen for their festival tickets they arrived at 10am.

"They came to the festival last year and they had such a great time - and as soon as they heard Toni Childs was coming they were sold," he said.

Toni Childs is the most recent of the 74-band line-up to be announced with other acts including the Bondi Cigars, Richard Clapton, Phil Emmanuel, Pop Standen, The Black Sorrows, Angry Anderson, James Sothwell and Wendy Mathews.

Festival tickets officially went on sale yesterday and early bird specials cost $220 until May 13.

Tickets are available online through http://www.mackayecc.com.au.

Meanwhile, one lucky Cannonvale woman has become the second person to win a free three-day festival pass.

Roselyn Neylan scored this win simply by attending Sunday's event at Magnums Hotel.

Mr Pattinson said overall the afternoon of live, original music, featuring local bands on the festival line-up, was extremely popular and drew a great crowd.

"It was also great to see the muso's having fun playing their own stuff," he said.

The next Original Sundays event will be held at Magnums on Sunday, May 17.
