Music rodeo supports vital cause

THERE'LL be bulls, bucking and plenty of giving back to the community at the upcoming Beef to Reef Country Music Rodeo.

Rodeo event manager Dallas Coben said the event was partnering with the RACQ CQ Rescue Helicopter service, with $2 from every ticket sold going to the local not-for-profit.

"We are proud to name RACQ CQ Rescue helicopter as our major beneficiary of this year's event, as we see relativity between the chopper and our events," he said.

Mr Coben said giving back to the Whitsundays was their little thank-you gift.

"As an inaugural event in this community, we want to give back to such a vital organisation that doesn't only support this community, but the entire region," he said.

"RACQ CQ Rescue helicopter is such a vital part of our region and of the live events industry."

With the chopper being a totally not-for-profit service, RACQ CQ Rescue Helicopter CEO Martin Cleland said it was donations such as this that kept the helicopter flying.

"With the regional economy in its current state, it is encouraging for us to know local events and their organisers appreciate the value of supporting our helicopter rescue service, which has proven to be vital on so many occasions," he said.

Mr Cleland said the helicopter was a service that could save residents' lives.

"We have already saved hundreds of lives in the last year, whether it be via hospital transfers, attending motor vehicle or workplace accidents or search-and-rescue missions, and we're incredibly proud to have grown both in size and status to become one of the most trusted and highly respected not-for-profit organisations in the state," he said.

Mr Cleland said while the service was the one with its boots on the ground, it was sponsors that allowed them to do what they did best.

"The blue and yellow helicopter in this region is synonymous with saving lives, and demand for our service is increasing annually," he said.

"But it's the financial commitment of a grateful community and our generous sponsors and supports that ensure we can be that difference between life and death for rural and regional Queenslanders," he said.

"Every life we save we are really proving our worth to this community, and every one of our missions is absolute proof of that."

The Beef to Reef Country Music Rodeo will run from October 30-31 at Paluma Park.
