National publicity for our region

THE Whitsundays is enjoying national publicity over the past month, with two episodes of Channel 9's Getaway featuring Whitsundays sailing and island holidays, and another feature due to air tonight on Paradise Bay Eco Escape on Long Island.

Tourism Whitsundays Chief Executive Officer Peter O'Reilly said features on Getaway were highly valued.

“A segment on Getaway is estimated at around $1 million in publicity value for the Whitsundays, so to be featured three times within a month is huge exposure for the Whitsundays,” Mr O'Reilly said.

The Whitsundays also played host to a national freelance journalist over the past week, visiting Airlie Beach, Long and Daydream Islands and the Great Barrier Reef, co-ordinated by Tourism Whitsundays.
