Naval crew enjoys visit
A SUCCESSFUL rest and relaxation visit was had by crew members of the HMAS Labuan on the weekend in Airlie Beach according to Commanding Officer of the ship, Lieutenant Commander Warren Wood.
The Cairns based ship arrived at Abel Point Marina on Friday and departed for Cairns early Monday morning.
During the visit, the local Naval Reserve Cadet unit was given a tour of the ship, while the rest of the crew enjoyed some down time after a busy six months, completing a major maintenance period and proving the ship’s readiness for operational tasking.
HMAS Labuan also hosted about 80 people, including members of the Airlie Beach/Whitsundays RSL sub branch, Council and other local residents at a reception held onboard Friday night.
