Jake and Elle near-perfect in cook-off

IF ONLY My Kitchen Rules came with tasting plates for home viewers.

With their near-perfect menu of vitello tonnato, john dory with fennel salad and chocolate molten cake with fig and coffee ice-cream, Sunshine Coast brother-and-sister Jake and Elle Harrison blitzed Angela Kennedy and Melina Bagnato in the their first sudden-death cook-off last night.

The siblings' menu saw them earn a score of 50/60, which is the highest score this season.

Judge Manu Feidel heralded their veal as "absolutely superb" and told them it was "poached like a professional", while guest judge Colin Fassnidge praised their john dory as "cooked to perfection" and "a lesson in simplicity".

But it was their dessert that had the judges going all gooey, much like their chocolately pudding extravaganza.

"It was everything it was supposed to be," gushed Karen Martini. "Exquisite."

The pair scored eights and nines across the board and happily dusted off their aprons and lived to cook another day.

While there were a few squabbles between the siblings as they felt the pressure of near-elimination, Elle described Jake as a "rock" throughout the competition.
