THE Whitsunday Neighbourhood Centre will be hosting a volunteer recruitment information session on Monday, February 2.

The session is open to men and women who want to volunteer their time and give back to their community.

People who are required to volunteer as part of their Centrelink reporting obligations are welcome too.

Community development officer Tamara Noble said volunteer roles varied from shopkeeping, to gardening, handyman work, administration delivery driving and more.

"Volunteering is great for meeting people, keeping your mind active and being part of a great organisation that has been helping people in this area for over 25 years now," she said.

"The information session gives people a chance to see what they can do, how much time is involved, share skills that they have and generally find out about volunteering in an informal relaxed setting".

Volunteer Robin Morrison attended last year's information session and since then he has been helping the Neighbourhood Centre with a variety of tasks including form help and resume writing programs.

"It is really up to you, what time you have, what skills you have and what role suits you," he said.

"I thoroughly enjoy volunteering for the Neighbourhood Centre".

The information session will be held from 11am-1pm and light refreshments will be provided.
