Neighbourhood Centre raises funds for cancer
TAMARA Noble is passionate about the Neighbourhood Centre in Cannonvale and the difference it can make in the Whitsunday community.
Just this morning, the centre held its Biggest Morning Tea to raise money for Cancer Council Queensland.
Ms Noble is the centre's Community Development Officer and said the event gave the community a chance to come together.
"We know a lot of clients, volunteers and staff that have been affected by cancer or know someone who has," she said.
"Today means a lot to us because it (cancer) affects so many people."
Attendees also had the chance to win lucky door prizes, smaller prizes and vouchers to restaurants.
Bigger prizes including accommodation and cruises were up for grabs in an auction.
Ms Noble said the centre staff were aiming to raise as much money as they could.
"We usually aim for $500 but we're happy with absolutely anything," she said.
