'Never say die attitude' shines

FROM the rural features of Proserpine, to the iconic Whitsunday islands and crop farms in Bowen - our diverse region has been captured on video.

The footage is part of Whitsunday Regional Council's promotional video "Our Whitsunday Our Utopia", which premiered at the Whitsunday Coast Airport's Funday on the Runway on Saturday night.

Whitsunday Mayor Andrew Willcox said the film reflected the "never say die attitude" of the Whitsunday community and showcased the stunning natural beauty of the area despite Cyclone Debbie's impact four months ago.

"This video features local faces in local places and shows how our community spends every day in this amazing part of the world," he said.

"We hope this gets residents and visitors to consider our Whitsundays as a great place to live, work and play."

Nominations were put out one month before the release date for local people to participate in the "community spirit video".

Airlie Beach resident Jillian Karon watched the video and said it was "nice to see the local faces you know".

The video represents stage one of a broader Whitsunday campaign, which will embody a series of six videos with a specific focus on the region and background stories.
