New Cannonvale medical centre plans in the pipeline

PLANS for a new medical centre in Cannonvale have been given a two-year extension.

The development originally came before council in May 2016 and plans were agreed on unanimously.

The medical centre would be built on a vacant lot on 48 Paluma Road in Cannonvale.

Stage one of the development will include the renovation of the existing house on the block.

The top storey of the renovation will be converted into a caretaker residence and the bottom floor will be used as a medical centre.

Two covered carparking spaces and 12 additional parking spaces would also be built in stage one.

The second stage would involve the construction of a 439sq m medical centre.

A further 32 car parks would be added in this stage as well as an ambulance bay.

Plans for one of the buildings show eight smaller consulting rooms and one large medical room.

There is also a fenced outdoor play area and several offices and meeting rooms.

When the original application was discussed at the council meeting, the applicant had plans to offer services that were unavailable in the region, meaning residents would not have to travel to access services.

The development was placed on public notification and no submissions were received.
