New leadership for Lions clubs

THERE'S been a changing of the guard in Proserpine with the local Lions and Lioness clubs ushering in new leadership teams.

With the official swearing in ceremony held on Saturday, June 27, the clubs now look towards the next 12 months of supporting the community.

David Hinschen has taken over as Proserpine Lions Club President, with Sue Dair becoming leader of the pride for the Proserpine Lioness Club.

This will be Mr Hinschen's third term as president, a record-breaking feat for the club.

"I enjoy the club and I enjoy getting in and helping people, so I thought I'd give it another go," he said.

In other roles, Tim McBride and Doug Winterflood will be taking over the Lions' secretary and treasurer positions respectively, while Sue Mcleod and Sandra Watson will assume the roles of secretary and treasurer, respectively, for the Lioness club.

The evening also saw the donation of an additional $1500 towards the Proserpine Hospital Monitor Program.

This is an ongoing project for both clubs and outgoing Proserpine Lions Club President Damien Mott said it had been a particular highlight of his term.
