No bail after an alleged attack on female officer

A MAN has appeared before Maryborough Magistrates Court charged with seriously assaulting a police officer after a disturbance at a home in the early hours of yesterday morning.

It is alleged a female police officer was kicked in the face during the incident.

Three other officers were allegedly punched in the chest.

Phillip Darryl Anthony Boyce appeared before Maryborough Magistrates Court yesterday charged with wilful damage of police property and obstructing police, in addition to the serious assault charge.

Maryborough Police Sergeant Chris Farlow said police would not tolerate assault on police officers.

"The female police officer had bruising to the face and swelling," Sgt Farlow said.

She didn't require any medical treatment.

The case was adjourned until August 9.

Boyce was not granted bail and will remain in custody until his next appearance.
