Ody's Acres needs your help post Cyclone Debbie

ODY'S Acres near Bowen was a small farm catering for special needs kids and it was thriving before Cyclone Debbie hit.

Post Debbie it is a different story.

Ninety percent of the farm's fencing is down, the bore pump was blown away and the Toms family have no insurance.

Jodie and Arthur Toms have eight of their 10 kids living at the property 20kms west of Bowen, and two months on from the touch down of Debbie they are still cooking on a two burner camp stove and running a hose from their neighbour's property to bath the kids.

"We have been without water for eight weeks. The bore pump was taken away by cyclone and our only source of water is a rain water tank and one tap, which is in the kitchen," Jodie said.

"The only way we can shower the kids is to push water from 800 metres away which brings only a dribble."

Jodie said her autistic son Xander's medical treatment took priority over insurance premiums leaving Ody's Acres no longer able to provide animal therapy to special needs kids and their families.

Ody's Acres is reaching out for any kind of new of used fencing material and water pumps. If you can help get this not-for-profit little farm back on it's feet contact Jodie Toms on 0409 043 133 or get in touch through Ody's Acres Facebook page.
