Oprah fever

FOUR Whitsunday women were among those who got the chance to see Oprah live at her shows in Sydney on Tuesday.

Kylie Spees won two tickets to the evening show and took her mother Yvonne.

Casey Noonan (nee Rideout) who now resides in Mackay, won two tickets to the morning show and took her mother Sharon Rideout of Cannonvale.

Snippets of Hamilton Island and Great Barrier Reef footage played during both shows.

In true Oprah fashion the audience didn't leave the Opera House or ‘Oprah' House empty handed.

The 6000 strong audience at the evening show, including Kylie and Yvonne Spees, will be given a white gold necklace with Argyle diamonds mined from the Western Australia's Kimberley region.

Casey and Sharon came out on top as well.

They will receive a West Australian pearl necklace.

News of this caused uncontrollable jumping and screaming for the four Whitsunday women, who all said that the gift capped off what had been an amazing adventure.

Fantasea Adventure Cruising Whitsundays also had staff members dressed in orange at Oprah's evening show.

Operations co-ordinator Heather Thatcher and cruise attendant Kat Phillips were provided with complimentary tickets after Fantasea was involved in Oprah's Whitsunday visit. The shows are set to air in Australia next month.

WHAT THEY SAID

Casey Noonan

She kept saying how much she loved everything in this country, I think it can only be positive for the Whitsundays and Australia. She [Oprah] is so selfless.

Highlights: Bon Jovi performing; Terri Irwin's emotional interview about Steve and $250,000 was given to an Australian man suffering from cancer – “that really hit the spot.

Kylie Spees

Oprah drove past me and waved.

She spoke very highly of Australia and Australians.

[Following the necklace announcement] everyone went mad, jumping and screaming.

Yvonne Spees

It was positive for the Whistundays; it will be positive for all Australians.

She [Oprah] couldn't get over how friendly the people were everywhere in Australia.

She's definitely coming back.

Highlight: Both Kylie and Yvonne said Hugh Jackman was a highlight, despite his aerial accident.

Sharon Rideout

I said to Casey, I wonder how we can get tickets to go and see her in Chicago.

She was so casual and always joking.

A once in a lifetime opportunity.
