Our 'best home' builders offer all
QUALITY over quantity - that's how Coastal Edge Constructions does their business.
But it's not just owners Ben and Jodie Ferdinand who think so because they've been recognised at the Master Builder Awards 2016 Mackay & Whitsunday, claiming House of the Year for their stunning Hamilton Island effort Kahala, along with Best Residential Home Over $2 million and Best Residential Bathroom.
"It was really good to get an award. We'd like to thank all the people that work for us. Our team of carpenters and joiners, subcontractors and suppliers, they're the guys that make it all possible,” Ben said.
"It was our first ever entry,” Jodie added, noting the house had also now been shortlisted for the state awards.
Ben and Jodie put their success down to their attention to detail and unique offerings.
"I've never built the same house twice,” Ben said.
"That's what we concentrate on, specialised houses. That sort of gives us an edge and that's where I want to stay.”
The other aspect that sets the Airlie Beach-based business apart is their use of custom-built timber, with the winning home's doors, windows, vanities and kitchen handmade by their second business, Cedar Bend Timber Joinery.
However, they wanted to make it clear that it was a team effort to achieve the amount of quality they do.
"It's not just about us. We've got carpenters and subcontractors that have worked with us for years. I think that's the difference as well,” Jodie said.
"It's not about the cheapest, it's about the best.”
With 22 years of experience Ben said he always took a hands-on approach to his homes.
"It's about quality, not quantity,” he said.
Ben and Jodie are open for business throughout the Whitsundays.
Clients are welcome to bring their own designs or their own ideas, with Ben saying they can help ideas become reality through their extended network. Contact Coastal Edge Constructions on 0409 275 315.
