Our riders recognised
THREE members of the Whitsundays' Equestrian Society were recognised for their skill and contribution to our Anzac Day ceremonies at the Airlie Beach RSL sub-branch last Wednesday.
Kendall Davies and Sammy Warren attended the RSL's monthly meeting, where they each received a certificate of appreciation and were handed a plaque for the Equestrian Society.
For the past two years, Ms Davies and Ms Warren have ridden their horses at Anzac Day services in Airlie Beach to represent the Australian Light Horse in WWI.
This year, they led the parade through the middle of the main street. Vanessa Torti took part in the event last year and was also recognised for her participation at the ceremony.
Sub-branch president Terry Brown, said he was appreciative of having such a great display in a small town.
"I think the inclusion of the horses and their riders was an outstanding contribution to our Anzac day service," he said.
"The way that the girls controlled the animals was also a display of very good horsemanship."
