Outriggers challenge aims to help stop domestic violence
ON SUNDAY September 22, the Whitsunday community will once again have a chance to Act as 1 against domestic, family and sexual violence.
The annual Act as 1 Outrigger Challenge is an event that brings together business, corporate and community groups, providing the perfect opportunity to participate in an enjoyable team building and social activity, aimed at promoting teamwork, fun and fitness.
Co-ordinated by Whitsunday Crisis and Counselling Services (WCCS), Club Outrigger Whitsunday, Rotary Club of Airlie Beach and Zonta Whitsundays, the challenge is a great day for all.
WCCS chief executive officer Carmen Bekker said participants didn't have to know how to paddle, "just be willing to give it a go and have fun".
"Come and take part and your team will compete against rival businesses and community groups for the chance to become the event's challenge winner or perhaps the best-dressed team, with prizes for all categories sponsored by local businesses," she said. Children's activities, information stalls, food and drinks are all available on site, making the event a fun morning for the community and local families.
The challenge takes place from 8am-1pm, at the lagoon beach, Broadwater Ave, Airlie Beach.
