Paceman out for two games

WARWICK paceman Mark Steketee is a strong chance to return for the final Brisbane Heat game of the season in the T20 Big Bash on Thursday night.

He was replaced by Cameron Gannon for the game against Sydney Sixers at the Gabba on Sunday night after being struck in the back of the head by a ball hit out of the nets on Saturday while he was walking back to bowl.

A Heat media spokesman said Steketee wasn't knocked out by the ball but was groggy.

"He was assessed at the ground, checked on again that evening, and still reported a few symptoms on Sunday so wasn't considered to play on Sunday night under the Cricket Australia concussion/head knock policy which errs on the side of caution," he said.

"Mark will miss the next game too."

Steketee has been replaced in the squad for tonight's clash against the Melbourne Renegades at Etihad Stadium by Alister McDermott but will be available for selection in Brisbane's final game of BBL|04 against the Hobart Hurricanes at the Gabba on Thursday night.

McDermott is in the team for the first time this season after debuting in T20 cricket in 2009. He has 29 wickets in 24 T20 games and is a son of retired Test paceman Craig McDermott.

The Heat will welcome back Test batsman Joe Burns for their remaining two KFC T20 Big Bash League games this week.

Burns, fresh from playing the final two Tests in Australia's series win over India for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, will come into the Heat 13-man squad for Nathan Reardon for tonight's clash.

Reardon will have treatment on knee tendonitis and hopes to be fit for the game against the Hurricanes on Thursday night.

The Heat travelled to Melbourne yesterday and held a recovery session late in the day and plan a top-up session today.

Sunday scores: Sydney Sixers 4-148 (Ryan Carters 30, James Hopes 2-23) d Brisbane Heat 6-147 (Peter Forrest 62, Andrew Flintoff 46, Brett Lee 2-29).
