PAW-ENFORCEMENT: Dog sent out of Hervey Bay courtroom

A PUPPY got his first brush with paw-enforcement after his owners decided to the Hervey Bay Magistrates Court was the perfect spot for the pooch.

But the dog's aspiring legal career did not impress Magistrate Graeme Tatnell who ordered the pup from the courtroom.

"Leave the dog at home next time," he said.

"It's an absolute disgrace."

The woman who was with the dog, Meika Allen, said the pup was bought in by a friend.

Allen protested a number of times that the dog was brought in by her friend, but that did not stop Mr Tatnell from reminder her the courtroom was not the place for a pup.

Allen has not yet entered a plea for four charges including assaulting police and public nuisance.

The matter was adjourned to February 11.
