Pellegrini says Aguero is yet to hit his peak

MANCHESTER City manager Manuel Pellegrini has sent a warning to English Premier League rivals that more is to come from star man Sergio Aguero.

After spending much of the season struggling with injuries, the Argentine scored twice in City's 4-0 thrashing of Crystal Palace

He also had an assist in the big win, but his manager said the striker was still to reach his peak as City moved to second on goal difference behind Leicester, ahead of Arsenal's game at Stoke overnight.

"I said in the last press conference that I saw Kun (Aguero) in the last game, he was making all the movement that he normally does when he's 100% fit,'' Pellegrini said. "In every game he will continue to improve."

Leicester had the chance to move two points clear at the top, but despite taking a 1-0 lead at bottom club Aston Villa, the Foxes had to settle for a point in a 1-1 draw.

Chelsea also picked up just one point, but it came in more dramatic circumstances in a controversial game against Everton at Stamford Bridge. Toffees boss Roberto Martinez thought Ramiro Funes Mori's goal in the sixth minute of seven minutes of stoppage time had won the game 3-2.

But with eight minutes of injury time played, Blues skipper John Terry equalised with a cheeky back-heeled finish, although TV replays suggested he was in an offside position as the game finished 3-3.

In other results, Tottenham consolidated fourth with a 4-1 thumping of struggling Sunderland, Newcastle moved out of the bottom three with a 2-1 win over West Ham and Bournemouth eased its relegation fears with a 3-0 defeat of fellow struggler Norwich.
