Perfect week for 3 AFL tipsters
THREE of the Whitsunday Times' footy tippers recorded a perfect nine from nine in round five of the AFL competition.
Allan Robinson from All Marine Services, Kevin Jewell from Singo's Secondhand Furniture and Steve McDonald from the Airlie Beach Music Centre all produced the goods in the weekly tipping competition, scoring the first perfect rounds for the 2013 season.
Mr McDonald led the competition by one heading into the last round and has now extended his lead to two points over Team Kerr (Ray White).
"My family have been Geelong supporters for 150 years and I always pick the Cats. I'm revelling in the fact that they are doing so well at the moment and it was good to sneak ahead of Ellen Kerr, who also backs the Cats.
Mr Jewell is now in his third year in the tipping competition and said he thought the last round was a pretty easy one to pick.
"Even though I support Richmond, I don't pick them every week. The biggest thrill I get is picking the teams myself and not following anyone else's advice. Its far more enjoyable to do the tips yourself," he said.
After being on the bottom of the ladder heading into round five, Mr Robinson was happy to shake off being on the bottom spot.
"You just need to study the form and I thought it was a pretty easy round to pick. I was last coming into the round so it's only up from here," he laughed.
