Performance the point for league leader Brisbane Roar

FOOTBALL: Brisbane Roar captain Matt Smith (pictured) says his team is focused on performances not points as the A-League season reaches its climax.

After sealing the Premier's Plate with a 1-0 win over Melbourne Victory, the Roar could set a record for the most number of points separating first and second - 12 by the Victory in 2006-07 - with wins in its final three regular season games.

But Smith said the team would be more concerned about how they played against Melbourne Heart (Friday), Western Sydney and Central Coast.

"We've never been a club that's focused on the points, to be honest," he said.

"We've always been a club that's focused on performances. We've strung together some very good performances this year but we've scraped some three points as well.

"I'd like to see us use these next games to really build our performances, get that consistency going coming into the finals."
