Perth siege ends with alleged gunman in critical condition

FIVE people who were taken hostage by an alleged gunman in the Perth suburb of Mosman Park overnight have been freed, WA Police say.

Heavily-armed police surrounded a house in Samson Street about 9:30pm.

The siege ended an hour and a half later with the alleged gunman being taken to Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital. A hospital spokeswoman said the man was in a critical condition.

Police have not said how he was injured.

The ABC understands at least two shots were heard during the incident.
