Police catch 14 drink-drivers, one in charge of a boat

A TOTAL of 14 motorists have been caught drink-driving in the Maryborough district in November - one in charge of a boat, according to police.

A police representative said the readings ranged from 0.05% to nearly three times the legal limit with a reading of 0.122%.

"Police charged nine drivers for being in the general alcohol limit of 0.05 - 0.10 range," the representative said.

"Three of these drivers were also charged with other offences including driving whilst disqualified, unlicensed driving and disobeying the speed limit.

"Police charged five drivers driving in the mid-range of 0.10 - 0.15 with the highest reading being 0.122%. 

"One of the drivers at the time of being charged was in control of a boat."

The police representative reminded drivers to plan their end-of-year celebrations so they had a designated driver or were picked-up the following day by a sober driver because "even the morning after you could be over the limit".
