Pollies to drop into Prossie next month

MAYOR Andrew Willcox says a "proactive roadshow” to Brisbane is the reason state Cabinet is visiting the Whitsundays next month.

Last month Cr Willcox, CEO Barry Omundson and councillor Mike Brunker arranged meetings at Parliament House in Brisbane with a number of ministers including Deputy Premier Jackie Trad as part of a mission to fly the flag for the Whitsunday region.

Cr Willcox welcomed last week's announcement by the Premier that her Cabinet ministers would meet in the Whitsundays on October 23 and 24 with a community forum to be held at Proserpine State High School on October 23.

"This is a great coup for our region and this council's proactive attitude and common-sense approach to partnering with state government is already paying dividends,” Cr Willcox said.

Premier Palaszczuk said that "Community Cabinet gives communities a chance to speak with ministers and raise issues that matter to them”.
