Port of Airlie progressing

RESIDENTS and business owners will be able to check on the progress of the Port of Airlie development at a business information forum tonight (Thursday).

Meridien managing director Russell McCart will detail the progress so far and there will be a range of special guests including Fantasea Cruises general manager Rob Addis who will speak to locals about the operation.

An update on the town centre development will be available by architect Gary Hunt, who is involved in both the Port of Airlie and the Airlie Main Street upgrade.

The region's tourism sector will be able to find out about the concept of a marketing levy by property and tourism investment consultant Bill Morris.

Enterprise Whitsundays chief executive Andrei Koeppen said the Port of Airlie, combined with the main street upgrade, would have a major impact on the town and would benefit residents, business owners and visitors.

“It is going to provide a world-class leisure and retail precinct that will enhance the Airlie Beach offering and bring trade and money into the town,” he said.

“I would urge anyone interested in the future of this town to attend the Airlie after hours information forum and hear what our guest speakers have to say.”

The Airlie after hours information forum will be at the Port of Airlie information centre on Coconut Grove, Airlie Beach tonight (Thursday) at 5.15pm.
