Festival dates set for 2014
THE feedback from the Airlie Beach Music Festival has been overwhelmingly positive.
On the festival's facebook page, several of the musicians have congratulated the organisers and thanked everyone for a great weekend.
Next year's festival dates have been set - November 7, 8 and 9.
Promoter Gavin Butlin said some people had already re-booked accommodation for next year.
He said he was pleased with the success of the event, even though it is not likely to be a financial success for him this year.
"I was prepared to take a hit in the first year," he said.
"It usually takes festivals a couple of years to really get off the ground but next year's festival will be even bigger and better."
He thanked his committee of eight people who helped him organise the event.
"I've received a lot of thanks but I couldn't have done it without this amazing group of people," he said.
"They've been with me all the way to make it happen."
Steve McDonald from Beach Music was one of the committee members and his business provided full production for all the venues, including the main stage.
"I'm really happy with the response from everyone throughout the town," he said.
"Everything ran very smoothly. Full credit to my staff and crew," he said.
Mayor Jenny Whitney congratulated the organisers of the festival.
"The Airlie Beach Music Festival was a fantastic event and a major drawcard for visitors to the region," she said. "I commend everyone involved in the organisation of the festival, the support of the local businesses as well as the many volunteers that helped over the three days.
"I encourage the community to get behind the event again next year."
