DWINDLING crowds haven’t deterred Pre Muster Party organisers from holding the event this year – they have just moved it to another date.
This year the traditionally Thursday event will be held on Saturday August 21 in Mary Street. This year Mary Street will close from 6.30am to 1pm to provide a mall like atmosphere where you can wander the street, enjoy great music and shop at various stalls.
Pre Muster Party organiser Tracey McKean said increased entertainment at the Muster meant people had stopped attending the party in the past couple of years but she now invited locals and Muster patrons to join the celebrations at The Gympie Times Pre Muster Street Party and Sale for a fun filled morning with talented musicians and once a year shopping specials.
Mary Street businesses are encouraged to dress up their stores with a Muster theme and come up with fantastic specials for the muster.
“We are looking forward to a fantastic day with so much happening in the region, not only is the Pre Muster Party on and the Nolan Meats Muster Cup at the Gympie Turf Club in the afternoon, there is also the Mary Valley Show and the Glenwood Swap Meet,” Mrs McKean said.
This year a variety of transport options will give visitors great opportunities to travel to Gympie for the day, package options include travel by Polleys Coaches or by rail from Amamoor to Mary Street for the party and to the Gympie Turf Club for the races.
Details will be available from local Tourist Information Centres and in The Gympie Times over the next few weeks.
