Blood test to predict premature births
SCIENTISTS have made a breakthrough in predicting premature births with a new blood test.
As early as 18 weeks into a pregnancy, the test can identify a woman at risk of an early delivery but not displaying symptoms.
Scientists from University of Western Australia and three Canadian universities did the research.
The test is expected to help ensure better treatment and prevention options are available for women, particularly in remote areas. It will be evaluated further before becoming widely available.
