Primetime news for The Project

NETWORK Ten today announced yet another change to their early evening schedule in an aggressive push for the early prime time audience, through a news shake-up, a reality show reschedule and an early start to the TV year.

While the Seven and Nine networks are committed to tennis and cricket coverage in the period leading up to the official start of the ratings period in five weeks time, Ten will sneak an early start by launching their new line up on Sunday January 22.

Ten have called time on their news "project" that last year initially saw Ten News at Five extended to an hour and a half in length with a short-lived half hour George Negus current affairs show chaser, followed in turn by the 7PM Project.

In October, Negus got the axe with the rebranded The Project adopting the 6:30pm timeslot with a new hour long format.
